They can be successfully used always for dying frequently washed articles, cotton shirts, curtain materials (light-colored items used as sunshade) and similar articles that require similar high light and washing fastness.
Use of indanthrene dyed yarn in production of stripe and plaid fabrics gives many advantages in practice. That kind of fabrics are slashed before weaving of dyed yarn and raw yarn, than slash removal, bleaching, mercerizing or bleaching processes follow. It is the only type of dye that can resist all these processes.

Indanthrene dyes are kind of dyes that maintain their importance due to high fabrication fastness for cotton dyeing especially for yarn dyed products.

They indicate high fastnesses against wet processes. Their better wet fastness (4-5) derives from their compounds that are not soluble in water. Their light fastness is generally very good and varies between (3-8).

Indanthrene dyes are not only resistant against light, acids and alkalis, they are also resistant against strong oxidizing agents. Their peroxide fastness is 4-5, mercerize fastness is 3-5 and hypochlorite fastness is 4-5 (2-3 for some). However, it should not be noted that all indanthrene dyes do not have high fastnesses.
